Labels and Material Safety Data Sheets--The Label is the Law

Pesticide labels are legal documents. Therefore, use of a pesticide in any manner contrary to specifications on the label is a federal offense.

The Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) has pesticide information on physical properties, toxicity, health effects, first aid, reactivity, storage, disposal, protective equipment, and spill protocols.

Pesticides are classified as restricted or non-restricted. Restricted pesticides may only be used by certified pesticide applicators or by those under their direct supervision.

Many pesticide labels and MSDS sheets may be downloaded for free at:

To view and see a description of a generic pesticide label go the EPA:Topical and Chemical Fact Sheets, Read the Label First. View an actual pesticide label (pdf).
